Summer Reading & Makerspaces

M A K E R S P A C E S??
What's that??

It's our old friend Crafternoons with a new twist!
Join us on these Wednesdays at 2pm:

June 24: bracelets with found stuff
use your brain to create bracelets, necklaces, or little sculptures with some stuff that we found around the Library!

July 9: monogrammed mugs
see the picture? super fun with sharpie pens, the color wheel and a mug!

July 22: personalized t-shirts
please bring a shirt that fits and one that will look great with some mathematical design elements. and don't forget that this one involves paint, so be sure to wear clothes that "could" get paint on them!

August 5: coptic stitched books
we have paper, but feel free to bring your favorite paper, fabric, embellishments, or whatever to make this hand-made book totally yours... with paper, thread, and needles!

August 19: doodled canvas wall art
more fun with the color wheel, design, and paint, so be sure to wear clothes that "could" get paint on them!

More pictures are coming, but we want to start getting you excited about Summer Reading and Makerspaces. Summer Reading officially begins on Monday, June 1, but come in on Friday, May 29, for our Summer Reading Kick-off to stay ahead of the crowds, make-n-takes, door prizes, and snacks!

Teen Tech Month 2015

Nationally libraries celebrate Teen Tech WEEK in March... but we've got so much planned, we couldn't pack it into just one week!!

We have cooked up a super-fun bingo card for Teen Tech Month that introduces teens to new technology as well as using the technology that they already use and love. Teens can win a basket of goodies just for playing bingo with us.

We have also mashed Teen Tech Month and Wednesday Night Events to offer teens a bunch of fun programming this month:
  • March 4 - Game Night... Cribbage! We look forward to introducing the game to novices as well as to offer some "friendly" competition for experienced players.
  • March 11 - Journal Group... last month we wrote about travel, and this month the prompts are all about Spring! If you haven't come before, you're welcome to come with your journal, or make a new one to get started on this journey of journaling.
  • March 18 - Crafter-evening... An Eleanor and Park-inspired cassette tape mini journal. Please register for this event at the 3rd floor.
  • March 25 - Spring Break Crafternoon... Low-Tech bookmarks. Please register for this event at the 3rd floor.
  • March 26 - Skype with YA author Robison Wells
Most programs begin at 7pm, except for March 25 Crafternoon that begins at 2pm.
You can call 612-8462 or email jhentzen@ifpl.org to register for these events

See you in the Library!
